Privacy Policy

Who we are

GamingBroject.com (https://gamingbroject.com) is a gaming news website owned and run by Panos, Christos and Spiros (GamingBroject) from Athens, Greece. We decide how the personal data described in this policy is used, so under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are its controller. You can contact us about privacy at contact@gamingbroject.com.

This policy covers visitors to gamingbroject.com. Our internal editorial tool and its TikTok integration have a separate GamingBroject Publisher Privacy Policy.

In short

  • You can read the whole site without an account.
  • Google Analytics runs only if you choose “Accept analytics”. Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals stay switched off.
  • We do not sell personal data. We do not show advertising at the moment.

Analytics (only with your consent)

If you accept analytics in our cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. It measures which pages you view, how long you stay, scrolling, clicks on links and videos, and your use of site features such as categories and the arcade. It also records your device and browser type, how you reached the site, and an approximate location that Google derives from your IP address. We use these statistics to understand which articles and features are useful. Google Signals, ad personalisation and advertising storage are disabled.

Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page. If you reject analytics, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies it set in your browser. Google keeps analytics event data for the retention period set in our Google Analytics property, which is no longer than 14 months.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we collect the comment, your name, your email address and, if you enter one, your website. We also keep your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Every comment is checked before it is published, and your email address is never shown publicly. We do not use Gravatar. If you tick “Save my name, email, and website in this browser”, WordPress stores these details in cookies on your device for about one year.

Legal basis: your consent when you submit a comment, and our legitimate interest in running a safe comment section (Article 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR). Comments and their details are kept until they are deleted. You can ask us to delete your comment at any time.

Arcade leaderboard

If you submit an arcade score, we store the nickname you choose, your score, the game and the month. Nicknames and scores appear on the public monthly leaderboard, so please do not use your real name or other personal information as a nickname. Offensive nicknames are not shown. Your IP address is used only in a keyed, one-way hash for one minute to limit spam submissions; it is not stored with your score. Your best scores and your last nickname are also kept in your own browser.

Security, hosting and site operation

Our website is hosted by GoDaddy and protected by the Wordfence security plugin. To deliver pages, block attacks and investigate errors, they process your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser user agent. These technical records are kept for a limited period. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

GoDaddy also adds its own traffic script, loaded from img1.wsimg.com, to the pages it serves. This script sets the cookies _tccl_visitor, _tccl_visit and _scc_session. GoDaddy processes this information under its own privacy policy.

When you click an article in the live article bar at the top of the site, we add one to an anonymous click total for that article. To avoid counting the same click twice, your IP address is used only in a keyed, one-way hash for 30 minutes.

We keep backups of the website, including comments, on our hosting account and in a Google Drive account that we control. Older backups are replaced automatically.

Embedded videos

Many articles embed official videos from YouTube, a Google service. Newer articles use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com); some older articles use the standard YouTube player. When a page with an embedded video loads, your browser connects to YouTube, which receives your IP address and browser information. YouTube may store cookies or similar data, especially when you play a video. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy.

Links to other websites

We link to official sources, game stores such as Steam, the Epic Games Store, GOG and the PlayStation Store, and to our social profiles on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, Twitch and Discord. These links do not send your data to those websites until you click them. After that, their own privacy policies apply.

Contacting us

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We keep the conversation for as long as it is needed to deal with your request.

Advertising

GamingBroject does not show advertising at the moment. If we start showing ads, for example through Google AdSense, we will update this policy before the ads go live and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

When ads run, third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings or at www.aboutads.info. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.

Where your data goes

We share personal data only with the service providers named in this policy: GoDaddy (hosting), Google (Analytics, YouTube and backup storage) and the Wordfence security service. Some of them may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, they rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal data, and we do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also restrict or object to its use and ask for a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing. To use these rights, email contact@gamingbroject.com. You can also complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr) or to the data protection authority in your own country.

Children

The site is written for a general audience. If you are under 15, please ask a parent or guardian before you post a comment or submit a leaderboard nickname.

Changes to this policy

When we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.

Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals remain disabled.
