According to IGN, Sony has introduced Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR), a trimmed-down version of its PS5 Pro technology, to bring AI upscaling to the base PS5. It analyzes images pixel by pixel using AI to improve detail and stability, though it is less powerful than PSSR.
The first games to feature QSSR are Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei, both patched today to offer the new upscaling as an optional graphics setting on PS5.
According to IGN, QSSR was developed through Sony’s Project Amethyst collaboration with AMD and is designed to be more efficient than PSSR, which requires a stronger GPU and is only available on PS5 Pro.
