Ember Lab has confirmed that Kena: Scars of Kosmora will now release in 2027 on PS5 and PC. The studio says it needs a little more time to polish a much bigger adventure than its 2021 debut, Bridge of Spirits, and it used the update to share the first detailed look at the sequel’s story.
Why Kena: Scars of Kosmora moved to 2027
Ember Lab has been working toward release since the announcement trailer in February, but it wants the sequel to beat the quality of Bridge of Spirits at a much larger scale. Moving the launch into 2027 gives the team time to polish that expanded experience. Like the first game, Scars of Kosmora is a character focused, linear adventure, but with a broader and deeper scope and more to discover for players who leave the main path.

Kena travels to the island of Kosmora
Before the sequel begins, Kena has trained for years as a Spirit Guide, part warrior and part healer, fighting the Corruption that spreads when the dead cannot move on. Now she is starting to see her limits. Her childhood friend Orfio believes the mysterious island of Kosmora holds the answers they both need, so Kena sets out to meet him and learn more about her future as a Spirit Guide.
Kosmora was once home to four connected cultures, each guided by one of the four elements, until a cataclysm destroyed one of them. Its Alchemystic Temples work as dungeons that test your skills and reward Kena with transformative upgrades, while living cultures across the island each bring their own history, values and struggles.

A new spirit companion Kena can ride
Kosmora is a larger world than the one in the first game, so Kena gets a crystalline canine companion. This ancient spirit works as a mount, fights at her side both mounted and on foot, and helps solve Alchemystic puzzles.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora launches in 2027 on PS5, in physical and digital editions, and on PC as a digital release. It is available to wishlist now.
