This is the first review from Chriskap13, who just joined the GamingBroject team. Welcome aboard.
Is 007 First Light finally a good James Bond game? In my opinion, yes. It brings espionage and blockbuster action together while introducing a younger Bond, before he becomes the 007 we know.
Action, chases and presentation
The striking visuals, action sequences and chases stand out right away. At times, it brought back the sense of adventure I felt playing Uncharted on the PlayStation 3 and the Tomb Raider games with Lara Croft. The cinematic pacing and spectacle kept me eager to see what would happen next.

Controls that keep up
The resemblance goes beyond presentation. The controls have that same immediate, responsive feel, which matters when the pace picks up. During the most intense sequences, I could react without feeling as though the controls were holding me back. That kept me immersed in the moment.
Story: a young Bond at MI6
The story follows the beginning of James Bond’s career at MI6. This is not the flawless, seasoned agent we know. He is young, instinctive, daring and willing to take risks. As he moves from training into the field, he meets familiar faces such as M, Q and Moneypenny, as well as his mentor, John Greenway. Watching Bond take shape is what makes this origin story interesting.

Music
The music is excellent, too. The score gives the action urgency and the espionage scenes the elegance they need. The Flight composed the original score, while Lana Del Rey and David Arnold wrote and composed the title song, “First Light.” For me, the music is one of the elements that completes the game’s cinematic feel.
Platforms and performance
007 First Light is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The standard PS5 offers a mode that prioritizes smoother motion, targeting 60 frames per second, and another that emphasizes image quality. The Xbox Series X and Series S versions deliver the same core adventure, with visual differences reflecting each console’s capabilities.
PC players with a GeForce RTX card can also turn on path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction after a recent update. We covered it here: 007 First Light Path Tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction update.
How it looks on PS5 Pro
I played it on PlayStation 5 Pro, and the image genuinely impressed me. It looked crisp, almost crystal clear. The detail in faces, clothing and environments made many scenes look stunning. The PS5 Pro version uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to produce a cleaner, more stable image, even when the camera moves quickly. In my experience, that clarity was one of the first things I noticed.

What about Nintendo Switch 2?
A separate Nintendo Switch 2 version is in the works, but it is not out yet. IO Interactive announced on September 15, 2026 that it now arrives in March 2027, with the exact date to be shared later, so the studio can polish the game’s performance on the console. I would want to see the final version in action before comparing it with the other consoles, so I will reserve judgment until I can assess the released version.
Verdict
In my opinion, we finally have a James Bond game that really works.
Chriskap13, GamingBroject
Overall, 007 First Light may not rank among the very best games in its genre. Still, it offers plenty of action, strong presentation, responsive controls and that unmistakable James Bond atmosphere. I think anyone who decides to give it a try is unlikely to be disappointed.
