Diablo V is scheduled for spring 2029. Blizzard’s BlizzCon panel outlines a Sanctuary already under Diablo’s control, with players taking the role of the Heir to Westmarch.
What changes in Diablo V?
Diablo is part of the conflict from the beginning, rather than a distant threat reserved for the end. Westmarch has become his base, and the player’s connection to him is central to the story.
The world is designed to change between visits. Blizzard describes a procedural landscape in which terrain, enemies, points of interest and rewards can shift as Diablo reshapes Sanctuary. For players, the important question is how those changes affect exploration and repeat journeys through familiar areas.
A caravan of survivors accompanies the Heir. The panel also introduces Dread Commanders: corrupted humans who have become powerful opponents.
