EXODUS Shows Full Early Mission in 40-Minute Gameplay Video

Archetype Entertainment released a 40-minute gameplay video of the Liberating the Kay mission from EXODUS, which is due April 7, 2027.

EXODUS Shows Full Early Mission in 40-Minute Gameplay Video

According to Gematsu and DSOGaming, Archetype Entertainment released a 40-minute gameplay video of the Liberating the Kay mission from EXODUS, which is due April 7, 2027.

Push Square and DSOGaming note that Archetype Entertainment published the footage for EXODUS, and Push Square calls it the biggest of the gameplay videos the studio has shared so far. It runs more than 40 minutes and follows one entire early-game mission from start to finish. The demo mixes dialogue, exploration and combat, so it shows more than a single firefight. DSOGaming warns that the video contains spoilers, so players who want to go in blind may want to skip it.

Inside Liberating the Kay

In the mission, the player seeks aid from Suliman Tenjin, leader of the powerful Tenjin Dynasty. Archetype says his help comes at a price. The favor leads into a fight against the forces of the player's half-brother Gideon Aslan, who is competing for control of Khonsu, an orbital space station. Archetype describes it as a station that has protected the player's homeworld and been home to the Kay for generations.

Paladin and Immortal choices

Choices drive the mission. Archetype says players face decisions both big and small that reflect their path toward becoming a Traveler, either Paladin, tied to virtue, or Immortal, tied to ambition. The demo splits at points to show both routes, and the choice can change the flow of events. In the end, the player decides the fate of the Kay, and Archetype says that choice has lasting consequences. The footage also shows main character Jun's new face, which was remodeled recently based on fan feedback.

Our Take

Forty minutes of one mission is a bold way to ask players to trust a choice system, and we read it as a sign that Archetype is confident in it. The Paladin and Immortal split is what we would watch, because branching paths only matter if the consequences carry through the rest of the game. Time Dilation could give those choices real weight. Players who want the full surprise should wait, since the footage is spoiler-heavy.

The setup and the Celestials

The premise is bleak. Earth is dying, so humans must find a new home in a dangerous galaxy. The player takes the role of the Traveler, humanity's last hope. The mission is to steal powerful alien weapons and tech from the Celestials, whom DSOGaming describes as the most powerful beings in the universe and humanity's greatest foes. Archetype says the game is a story-driven single-player action RPG.

Why choices matter

Archetype says the game will give players many choices that can change the story. Those choices matter because of a feature called Time Dilation, which means time can pass at different rates and change events and their results. The studio also says the game will offer modern AAA gameplay and give players more freedom to shape their own story, rather than following a fixed path.

Platforms and release

EXODUS is due April 7, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. On PC, it will be sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The sources give no price. DSOGaming notes that Archetype has not yet revealed the PC system requirements, so PC players still have no hardware target to check their machines against.
