According to Gematsu, Square Enix moved Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold to February 23, 2027, with early access starting February 19 and pre-orders opening November 4.
How to get early access
Shacknews and Gematsu note that Pre-orders open on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and a pre-order makes a player eligible for early access beginning Friday, February 19, 2027. Players who want early access therefore need to pre-order once the store opens. Square Enix also plans a Collector's Edition with a Reaper figure, an Ethos metal keychain, a Kottr mini plush and an Evercold special art box.
New job: the Zephyr
Shacknews also reports that Yoshida also unveiled the next new job for the game, the Zephyr. It is a ranged DPS job that fights with a crossbow and a trusty avian familiar. The keynote included never-before-seen footage of the expansion, and players also got a look at some of its new characters and areas.
New areas shown
Two new areas are named in the announcement: Sessrymnir, Realmship of Earth, and Skioblaonir, Realmship of Wind. Another report spells the first one Sessyrmnir and describes it as one of the Fourth's five massive airships. That airship is so big that its surface is practically a world in itself, with settlements and fields. The sources do not detail the second realmship.
Patch 8.0 and more reveals
Evercold is described as the patch 8.0 expansion for Final Fantasy XIV. The full trailer is available, and the RPG Site report says more is to come. Shacknews published while the keynote was still running and noted that Yoshida was likely to have plenty more to show off, so further details from the event are possible.
Platforms and release
Gematsu and Shacknews write that Final Fantasy XIV is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Evercold is expected on all of the game's platforms, including the newly released Nintendo Switch 2 version. The expansion launches on Tuesday, February 23, 2027. The sources do not state a price.
