Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Hits PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC Feb 12

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Crystal Dynamics’ reimagining of Lara Croft’s 1996 debut, launches on February 12, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam. Preorders are open on all four platforms, with a Standard Edition at 59.99 US dollars and a Deluxe Edition at 69.99 US dollars.

The date was revealed in June, but the game is back in the spotlight this week thanks to a Tomb Raider 30th anniversary feature on Xbox Wire, built around an interview with Crystal Dynamics’ Meagan Marie.

What Legacy of Atlantis is

Crystal Dynamics is building the game in Unreal Engine 5 together with Flying Wild Hog, and Amazon Game Studios is publishing it. Lara once again hunts for the pieces of the Scion, a powerful Atlantean artifact, across the jungles of Peru, the ruins of Greece, the Egyptian desert and a mysterious island in the Mediterranean.

The official store listing says the story has been expanded with new links to Lara’s later adventures. Puzzles use water flow, light beams, pressure plates and ancient symbols, traversal adds a grappling hook, and combat keeps her trademark dual pistols against animals, mercenaries and mythological creatures. On PC, Steam lists 80 GB of storage and a GTX 1070 or RX 5700 class card as the minimum.

Editions and preorder bonuses

US prices are the same on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam and Nintendo eShop:

  • Standard Edition, 59.99 US dollars: the base game, plus the Survivor Outfit as an early unlock for preorders.
  • Deluxe Edition, 69.99 US dollars: everything in Standard, 48 hours of early access from February 10, 2027 as a preorder bonus, the Parisian Fugitive Outfit and a DLC Story Pack due after launch, with timing still to be announced.

The official site also lists a physical Collector’s Edition with a statue of Lara facing a Tyrannosaurus, a mini art book and a steel case, priced at 199.99 US dollars according to Insider Gaming. Linking an Amazon Games iD account to Steam, PlayStation Network or Xbox adds a free Mediterranean Wetsuit Outfit at launch.

Thirty years of Lara Croft

The Xbox Wire feature recalls how a small team at Core Design in Derby, England made the first game in 1996, with Toby Gard designing Lara as a hero who wins with her mind as much as her agility. It then follows the series through Crystal Dynamics’ Legend, Anniversary and Underworld trilogy and the 2013 reboot.

Marie, Director of Brand Creative at Crystal Dynamics, wrote the book 20 Years of Tomb Raider. She calls Legacy of Atlantis “a culmination of everybody’s passion and thirty years of history,” pitched as a first step for new players as much as a return trip for veterans.

Crystal Dynamics is also releasing a behind the scenes series about the game on its YouTube channel. The newest episode, which introduces the mercenary Larson, is below.

Our Take

We see the most telling detail here in the promise that Legacy of Atlantis is built to represent every version of Lara at once. That is a risky goal for a reimagining of a 1996 original, because it asks one game to satisfy longtime fans and newer players together. The mini-documentary series should show how Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog plan to balance those audiences before the February release.
