Elta: Defy All Gods, a martial arts action platformer from Afterburner Studios, has a free demo available now on PlayStation 5. The full game launches on February 2, 2027, and players who preorder get the Vanguard Armor, a cosmetic skin for the hero, Victus.
What kind of game is Elta: Defy All Gods?
The studio calls it a brawlervania: the hard hitting combat of a brawler mixed with the platforming and exploration of a search action game. You play as Victus, a warrior monk, alongside Elta, a small dragon who is also the ancient god your people worship. Combat uses three martial arts stances, each with its own skill tree, plus magic attacks that release built up energy. Movement grows over time with a double jump, dash, wall run and grapple, and Elta adds abilities that hit harder and open up areas you could not reach before.

Inspired by Castlevania, God of War and Dragon Ball Z
The team names Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, God of War, Darksiders and Jak and Daxter as influences, along with shonen anime, especially Dragon Ball Z, and Hong Kong martial arts films such as the Ip Man series and Shaw Brothers classics. A painterly art style covers three winding sci fi worlds.
Afterburner Studios is a small indie team with three cofounders and about a dozen core members, and Elta has been in development for five years. Focus Entertainment, the publisher behind Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, supports the project with design, production and QA help. On PS5, DualSense haptics give every punch and landing extra weight.

What the free demo includes
The demo covers the very beginning of the game. You recover the lost dragon god, fight corrupted enemies in close combat and explore Lerna, an icy world full of hidden secrets, ancient ruins and industrial remains.
