S-GAME has released a new 20 minute Phantom Blade Zero gameplay deep dive, offering the clearest look yet at its combat, progression systems and dark Wuxia world.
The presentation confirms several major features ahead of the game’s October release, including an extensive weapon system, multiple difficulty modes, meaningful side quests and Donnie Yen’s involvement.

More Than Fast Combat
Phantom Blade Zero takes place in a dark martial arts world known as Wulin. Players control Soul, an assassin who has been framed for the death of his master and given only 66 days to live.
The deep dive shows that exploration will be more important than simply moving between combat encounters. Side quests can reveal secrets, expand the lore and open additional story paths.
Combat is built around more than 30 main weapons and 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges. Players can combine swords and other melee weapons with ranged attacks, accessories and summon based abilities.
Some enemies will also reward players with new weapons after they are defeated. The reforging system allows upgrade materials to be refunded, making it easier to experiment with different builds without permanently wasting resources.
Three Difficulty Options
S-GAME has confirmed three main difficulty settings:
- Wayfarer focuses on the story and accessibility.
- Hellwalker introduces more advanced and adaptive enemy behaviour.
- Sixty-Six Days is designed as the most demanding experience.
The developers say enemy aggression and behaviour will change between difficulty levels, instead of relying only on larger health bars and increased damage.
Donnie Yen Joins the Game
Martial arts star Donnie Yen serves as a creative consultant and portrays Mó Yuan, the leader of the Bastion of Mó. His performance was captured through facial scanning and motion capture.
His involvement is intended to help S-GAME create more authentic martial arts choreography while maintaining the game’s exaggerated Kungfupunk identity.
