Age of Empires IV is getting two new civilizations in Raiders of the North, and pre orders are open now on Steam, the Microsoft Store and Xbox. The Steam store lists the expansion for October 29, 2026, at 19.99 US dollars, and World’s Edge says it will also be sold on the PlayStation 5 store on launch day.
Vikings and Scots
The Vikings are built for speed and aggression. Their early game leans on strong melee infantry and raids, the Longhouse anchors their economy, and Northern Migration trains villagers for free. Later they add Knights and Militia Crossbowmen, while Heroic Sagas and Sacred Groves reward big deeds and hold key ground.
The Scots are about resilience. They field disciplined infantry, fortified tower houses and castles, and a steady food economy built on Highland Cattle and Fishponds. The Mustering Hall lets you lean toward Highland warriors or Lowland forces, with units like the Gallowglass and the Border Reivers.

New maps, Crucible co op and more
Two new biomes arrive, Scottish Heathland and Tundra Summer. The Crucible mode gets a big update with two player co op, two new modes, 25 new Boons, 25 new Mutators and a Talent Track for every civilization, and owners of Raiders of the North get four exclusive new Crucible missions.
The expansion also adds masteries, seven new achievements per civilization and 12 new taunts. Relic Entertainment says more details on the Crucible will follow closer to launch.
