Xbox Cloud Gaming adds monthly hour limits from November

The announced Game Pass allowances, extra-hour purchases and what remains unpriced.

Xbox Cloud Gaming adds monthly hour limits from November
Xbox has announced monthly cloud-streaming allowances for Game Pass, beginning in November 2026. The change affects how long subscribers can stream games; the announcement does not describe a limit on ordinary downloaded-game play.

Included cloud hours each month

  • Ultimate: 15 hours.
  • Premium: 10 hours.
  • Essential: 5 hours.
After using those allowances, subscribers will be able to buy additional streaming time through the Xbox Store. Xbox says prices and purchasing details will be announced before implementation, with features and availability potentially differing by market.

A separate option without Game Pass

Also from November, players will be able to purchase cloud hours to stream eligible games they already own, without a recurring Game Pass subscription. That does not make every purchased game streamable: both game eligibility and device support still apply. For frequent cloud players, the important unresolved question is the cost of additional hours. The announcement confirms the allowances but does not yet provide enough pricing information to calculate a new monthly bill. Official source: Official announcement
