Xbox Game Pass has four plans. Here is what Essential, Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass include, what each costs in the US and which one to pick.

Xbox Game Pass Plans Explained: Essential, Premium, Ultimate and PC

Xbox Game Pass comes in four plans: Essential, Premium and Ultimate for console, PC and cloud, plus PC Game Pass for PC only. Ultimate and PC Game Pass got cheaper in April 2026, and monthly cloud playtime allowances arrive in November 2026. Here is what each plan includes right now.

Xbox Game Pass prices in the US

PlanMonthlyGames

Premium14.99 US dollarsMore than 200
Ultimate22.99 US dollarsMore than 500
PC Game Pass13.99 US dollarsMore than 300 on PC

According to Xbox Wire, Ultimate dropped from 29.99 to 22.99 US dollars a month and PC Game Pass from 16.49 to 13.99 US dollars a month on April 21, 2026. Prices vary by region, so check the official Game Pass page for yours.

Essential

Essential is the entry plan. It includes more than 50 games you can play on console, PC and other devices, online console multiplayer, in game benefits for games like League of Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone, Microsoft Rewards points and 5 hours of cloud playtime a month.

Premium

Premium raises the library to more than 200 games and adds new Xbox published games within a year of their launch. It includes 10 hours of cloud playtime a month and earns twice the Rewards points of Essential.

Ultimate

Ultimate is the full plan, with more than 500 games, new games on day one, EA Play, Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics, 15 hours of cloud playtime a month and four times the Rewards points of Essential.

One change to know: new Call of Duty games no longer arrive on day one. Xbox says future Call of Duty games join Ultimate and PC Game Pass during the following holiday season, about a year after launch, while the Call of Duty games already in the library stay.

PC Game Pass

PC Game Pass is for PC players only. It includes more than 300 PC games, new games on day one, EA Play and twice the Rewards points of Essential, but no console play and no cloud gaming.

What about cloud playtime?

The monthly hours listed above are the new cloud streaming allowances Xbox announced for November 2026. You will be able to buy extra hours through the Xbox Store, and we explained the details in our story on the Xbox Cloud Gaming changes.

Which plan should you pick?

  • Essential if you mainly want online console multiplayer and a small rotating library.
  • Premium if you want a bigger library and can wait up to a year for new Xbox games.
  • Ultimate if you want new games on day one, EA Play and the most cloud playtime.
  • PC Game Pass if you only play on PC.
