Ark Survival Ascended Gives Giganotosaurus New Look November 5

According to PCGamesN, Studio Wildcard will bring the Giganotosaurus TLC and the move to Unreal Engine 5.8 to Ark: Survival Ascended on Thursday, November 5.

Giganotosaurus update date

Studio Wildcard has confirmed the next big update for Ark: Survival Ascended. The Giganotosaurus TLC arrives on Thursday, November 5, 2026, eleven years to the day since the apex predator first appeared in Survival Evolved. The developer promises the giant predator a fearsome new look and renewed ferocity, aimed at reasserting its place at the very top of the food chain. The update also carries the game's engine upgrade, so November 5 is a double release day for the dinosaur survival game.

The Giganotosaurus TLC is the third of five planned Tender Loving Care updates. The Ark: Survival Ascended community voted for them during Extra Life 2025. Studio Wildcard has already given fresh attention to the Araneo and the Therizinosaurus. Now it turns to one of the biggest creatures in the game. Two more of the five planned updates are still to come after this one, though the sources do not say when.

Unreal Engine 5.8 move

The long-teased switch to Unreal Engine 5.8 lands alongside the Giganotosaurus. It was originally scheduled for the end of September but was pushed back a couple of times so the build could be fully polished. Studio Wildcard says the new update has now reached 99.9% mod compatibility, and the team is still ironing out the last edge cases. Mod users should expect nearly everything to carry over, with a few stragglers possible.

Taming the returning king

Gigas have long been one of the aspirational dinosaurs to tame. Their moveset is simple but effective, built around stomps and tail slams that can devastate anything in your path. Studio Wildcard says the new-look version stays a formidable ally for players brave enough to earn its loyalty. Getting there takes effort, though, because the developer says the returning king demands respect before it will fight on your side.

Our Take

Putting the engine upgrade on the same day as a fan-voted creature update is a smart way for us to see Wildcard soften a migration that already slipped more than once. Players will remember the Giganotosaurus, not the tech work. Our worry is the last stretch of mod compatibility, because a rough launch day would overshadow the dinosaur. Anyone running a heavily modded server should watch how the edge cases play out before moving over.

Enigmasaur and DLC price

The Enigmasaur wraps up Ark: Fantastic Tames Season 1 on Friday, November 6. This insect-loving lizard can shapeshift to mimic other creatures, with different abilities based on the form it takes. To tame it, players must first tame several of the creatures it loves to turn into. They also need the Fantastic Tames Season 1 DLC, on a 20% sale until Sunday, November 8. It costs 7.99 US dollars or 5.99 pounds and covers the Burrowbuck, Cerberax and Enigmasaur.
