Dawn of War IV Overview Trailer Shows Four Factions and Year One Plans

Dawn of War IV's new overview trailer covers four factions, 70 plus missions and Year One updates ahead of its December 3 launch on PC.

Dawn of War IV Overview Trailer Shows Four Factions and Year One Plans

Deep Silver and KING Art Games have released an official Game Overview trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, walking through its four factions, four campaigns and more than 70 missions. The real time strategy game launches on PC through Steam on December 3, 2026, and Commander Edition owners can start playing three days earlier, on November 30.

Four armies, four campaigns

The new video, posted on October 21 to Steam and the game’s official YouTube channel, puts all four playable armies on screen: the Space Marines, the Orks, the Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus, who make their first appearance in the series. On the Space Marine side, players can lead either the Blood Ravens or the Dark Angels, according to the publisher’s official game page.

Every faction gets its own campaign, and the four stories feed into one larger narrative set on the planet Kronus. The campaigns include branching choices and support cooperative play, which should give the 70 plus missions some replay value.

Beyond the story, there is Skirmish, online battles across 30 multiplayer maps and the return of The Last Stand, the wave based mode fans remember from Dawn of War II, where you hold the line together with two other players. Watch the official trailer below.

A deeper Painter tool

The trailer also spends time on the enhanced Painter tool, the army customization system. It now covers both armor and equipment, so players can change colors, apply decals and swap the war gear their units carry before taking them into battle.

Commander Edition and the Year One plan

Dawn of War IV is the first brand new entry in the series since Dawn of War III in 2017. It was first scheduled for September 17, but in August KING Art moved the launch to December 3 to give the team more time, as the studio explained in an official Steam update.

Two editions are on sale. The Standard Edition costs 59.99 US dollars and includes the base game. The Commander Edition costs 89.99 US dollars and adds the three day early unlock, the digital soundtrack and both paid expansions planned for the first year: the Blood Ravens Story Prologue and the Aftermath campaign expansion, which brings a new playable faction that has not been named yet. Both editions are 10 percent off on Steam until launch, at 53.99 and 80.99 US dollars.

Support continues after release. During Year One, free updates will bring back Crusade Mode and add new maps, new modes, extra Commanders and a Mission Editor. The two story expansions will also be sold separately, but their standalone prices have not been announced.
