Sony has revealed a new limited edition PlayStation 5 bundle inspired by Marvel’s Wolverine, but there is one important detail that physical game fans need to know. The console is based on the PS5 Digital Edition and does not include a disc drive.
The Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle will cost $649.99 in the United States, £569.99 in the United Kingdom, €649.99 in Europe and ¥96,980 in Japan. Preorders will begin on August 19, 2026, while the bundle will launch on September 15 in limited quantities.
What is included in the bundle?
The package includes:
PS5 Digital Edition console with Battle Yellow Limited Edition covers
Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller
A download code for Marvel’s Wolverine
The design is inspired by Wolverine’s Battle Reborn suit and features a bright yellow finish, black details and claw marks across the console. The same design continues onto the DualSense controller, giving the bundle a much stronger collector appeal than a standard PS5 Digital Edition.
The most important limitation is the missing disc drive. Buyers will receive the digital version of Marvel’s Wolverine through a download code, so the console cannot play physical PS5 or PS4 game discs unless a compatible disc drive is purchased separately.
How does the price compare with the regular PS5?
Sony’s current recommended price for the standard PS5 in the United States is $649.99, while the standard PS5 Digital Edition costs $599.99. This means the Wolverine bundle costs the same as the regular disc model, even though it remains a digital only console.
However, the bundle also includes a themed DualSense controller and the game itself. For collectors and players who already buy most games digitally, the package offers more value than purchasing the console and accessories separately.
Sony will also sell the Battle Yellow DualSense controller separately for $84.99. Battle Yellow console covers for PS5 and PS5 Pro will cost $74.99, while the Adamantium themed PS5 Pro covers and DualSense controller will also be available in selected regions.
When is Marvel’s Wolverine coming out?
Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5 consoles. The game is being developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The official PlayStation page describes Marvel’s Wolverine as a single player, narrative driven action adventure. It is not an open world game and will not be released for PlayStation 4. The game will also be enhanced for PS5 Pro.
The limited edition console and accessories will be available through PlayStation Direct in supported regions and through selected retailers. Sony has not announced the exact number of units being produced, so availability may depend on stock and region.
For collectors, the Wolverine PS5 bundle offers a striking design, a special controller and a copy of the game in one package. For physical media fans, however, the digital only format and the $649.99 price may make the bundle harder to justify.
