Darkest Dungeon II Lands on Switch 2 With All Three Kingdoms Modules

Nintendo lists a Darkest Dungeon II: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack for Nintendo Switch 2, and the page says the Kingdoms game mode is available now.

According to the Nintendo listing, the Upgrade Pack is for Nintendo Switch 2 and carries the full title Darkest Dungeon II: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack. The software description, which Nintendo says was provided by the publisher, presents the game as a roguelike road trip of the damned. Players form a party and equip a stagecoach, and the page says four heroes and a stagecoach are all that stand between darkness and salvation.

Kingdoms game mode

The listing describes Kingdoms as a stand-alone strategic campaign mode. In it, players manage a persistent roster of heroes, gather resources and pursue an epic questline to track down and defeat the source of evil. Nintendo's page says Kingdoms is being released in thematic modules, each focused on a different enemy threat. All three adventure modules, Hunger of the Beast Clan, Secrets of the Coven and Curse of the Court, are listed as available now.

Confessions roguelike runs

The page also covers the Confessions game mode, built around roguelike runs. The publisher description says each expedition lasts from 30 minutes to several hours, and that even a failed run arms players with resources to improve the next journey. Through the Affinity System, heroes bond or grate on each other's nerves as travels progress, which can produce combat synergies or journey-ending dysfunction. Environments range from the burning Sprawl to the diseased Foetor.

Inn, narration and combat

Nintendo's description lists further features of the game. Players can rest their heroes at the Inn, where they manage stress and relationships through a variety of diversions. The text promises the return of the narration system with voice actor Wayne June, along with a stylish evolution of the signature art style of Darkest Dungeon. It also mentions improvements to the turn-based combat from the first game.
