Rhapsody in Scarlet brings magic and beast combos to PS5
Konami has announced Rhapsody in Scarlet for PlayStation 5, introducing an action game set in a fantasy version of 1920s New York. The reveal appeared during State of Play and State of Play Japan on September 3.

Magic and companions shape combat

Players control Ellie, a young magus who originally comes to the city to pursue jazz singing. Battles combine her spells with attacks from beast companions, including Sköll. Konami describes a system that mixes close-range moves, ranged attacks and area spells into customisable combinations. The practical distinction is that combat is not presented simply as sword fighting with occasional magic. Players are expected to combine several attack types and adjust those combinations to the enemies they encounter.

Setting and release information

Ellie becomes involved with a mysterious mafia organisation and meets Ilya, leader of the Seekers. Their conflicting values are part of the central relationship. Jazz, period architecture and fantasy elements underpin the setting. The official announcement confirms PS5 and opens wishlisting, but does not give a release date. The announcement trailer is included below. Official source: Official announcement
