Bodycam FPS is already live inside Fortnite. If the trailer made you wonder whether Epic is planning a giant crossover event, here is the key distinction: this is a free, officially licensed Bodycam experience built as a separate Fortnite island, not a new Battle Royale season or an Epic-run live event.
Is Bodycam a Fortnite event or expansion?
It is best described as an expansion of the Bodycam universe inside Fortnite Creative. Virstate built the experience in Unreal Editor for Fortnite under license from Bodycam creator Reissad Studio, with Nazara Technologies behind the launch. Players enter through a standalone island. It does not change Fortnite’s main Battle Royale map or replace the original Bodycam game on PC.
The creators have discussed future seasonal updates and community events, but they have not announced a specific Fortnite-wide event or dated expansion. That difference matters: the island is real and playable now; a larger Epic live event has not been confirmed.
When did Bodycam launch in the US?
Bodycam FPS launched worldwide on September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT / 1:00 p.m. EDT. Those were the US launch times, not a future countdown. As of October 12, the official Fortnite island page lists it as live.
How to play Bodycam FPS in Fortnite
Open Fortnite, go to Discover, and enter island code 9784-3946-5466. The island is free to enter. Its current listing describes a first-person bodycam-style shooter with Free For All, Team Deathmatch, and Gun Game. It also lists two maps, weapon upgrades, rankings, challenges, and progression. The launch announcement highlighted the Russian Building map; we would not assume the second map’s name without confirmation.
Our take: one we want to try
Honestly, this looks great, and I am definitely going to try it. Fortnite has delivered some incredible events over the years, so it is exciting to see creators push the platform into a more grounded tactical-shooter look. But this is a creator island, not one of those Epic live events. The real test will be how the gunplay, visibility, and performance feel in an actual match, not just in a sharp trailer. We have not played it yet, so this is a pre-play impression, not a review.
Watch the official trailer above, jump in with the island code, and tell us: does Bodycam’s realistic style work for Fortnite, or do you prefer the original game?
Our Take
Fortnite is the perfect example of how well a company can take care of its game over the years. Epic has been looking after it for years, and it shows. The events Fortnite puts on are simply stunning, and nothing else really compares.
That's why I'm glad to see the platform keep growing. Bodycam FPS is free to enter and already live on its own island, but it's a creator project, not one of those Epic live events. Still, it shows how much room Fortnite gives people to build, and that is part of why it stays fresh.
Respect to Epic for that. Keeping a game this alive for years is not easy, and they keep pulling it off.
