DLSS 5 October Update | Faster Model in NBA 2K27

DLSS 5’s next step is bigger than a single basketball update. NVIDIA has announced a faster neural rendering model for NBA 2K27, followed by new integrations in Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet. For RTX 50 Series players, the useful takeaway is the rollout schedule, not just the headline performance multiplier.

Which games are getting DLSS 5 next?

These are the dates and windows in NVIDIA’s October 13 announcement:

  • NBA 2K27, October 16, 2026: the faster model arrives with Season 2. DLSS 5 already launched in September, so this is a performance update, not its debut.
  • Hogwarts Legacy, November 5, 2026: an update adds 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. NVIDIA says Avalanche has tuned the integration to preserve the game’s artistic intent.
  • Where Winds Meet, late November 2026: DLSS 5 is coming, but an exact day has not been announced. Existing Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation support is not the same as this new feature.

NVIDIA’s RTX Spark launch briefing confirms the three-game rollout. Where Winds Meet being playable on RTX Spark on October 16 does not move its DLSS 5 update to that date.

What does the faster model actually change?

NVIDIA reports a 2x increase in model speed versus September, 20% lower VRAM use at 4K and up to 1.4x frame rates in NBA 2K27. The 2x figure is not a promise of double the whole game’s FPS, and the NBA improvement should not be assumed for Hogwarts Legacy or Where Winds Meet.

Those are manufacturer claims, not GamingBroject benchmarks. We would want matching settings and scenes, plus checks of frame pacing, responsiveness and image stability, before judging the practical benefit.

Hardware support is not a blanket upgrade

On PC, DLSS 5 neural rendering requires GeForce RTX 50 Series hardware. NVIDIA also names RTX Spark and supported GeForce NOW access in the NBA 2K27 and Hogwarts Legacy schedules. No console DLSS 5 patch is announced here. The separate Frame Generation Performance Mode beta for RTX 40 Series should not be confused with DLSS 5 neural rendering support.

What about the other announced games?

NVIDIA’s earlier DLSS 5 announcement also named:

  • AION 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Black State.
  • CINDER CITY, Delta Force and Justice.
  • NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, NTE: Neverness to Everness and Phantom Blade Zero.
  • Resident Evil Requiem, Sea of Remnants, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

These are announced integrations, not confirmation that DLSS 5 is playable in all of them today. The October announcement does not assign individual release dates to those titles.

RTX Remix is a separate October 23 update

DLSS 5 also reaches the RTX Remix modding tool on October 23. NVIDIA showcases in-development Fallout 4 RTX and Mirror’s Edge RTX projects, but that is not an official release date for either mod or a publisher-issued game patch.

Galanos’ take

I can’t wait to see what the RTX 50 Series and DLSS 5 can really do. What excites me is seeing the technology tested across different worlds, not only one arena. I want richer visuals without losing that smooth, responsive feel. Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet make this next wave much more interesting to me, but the real test will be how it looks and feels while playing.
