Gran Turismo 7 has two different dates to put on your calendar: a free driving update and a collectible controller in December. Spec IV Part 1, also identified as Update 1.72, is scheduled for October 14, 2026, at 11 p.m. PT, which is October 15 at 2 a.m. ET. Do not mistake the blog’s ‘out today’ headline for an update already available earlier in the US day.

New asphalt before new hardware
The update adds Sportsland Sugo, six cars, World Circuit events, Scapes locations, Experience mode and Car Viewer features. Downloading the update is free, but acquiring the cars still requires in-game credits, earned through play or purchased.
GT7 is available on PS5 and PS4 through PlayStation Store and physical releases. This is an update to the existing game, not a standalone sequel or a Steam or Epic Games Store launch.

More ways to enjoy your garage
Beyond the car count, there are new ways to use your collection. Car Concierge and the new viewing and driving activities give collectors more ways to engage with their garages. That is a stronger reason to return than a controller color scheme alone. The important question is whether these features fit the way you enjoy Gran Turismo, not whether you need to buy another accessory to keep up.
Gran Turismo DualSense: US preorder details
The limited-edition controller has racing-inspired graphics and a carbon-fiber-style front plate. Its suggested US price is 84.99 US dollars, with release beginning December 10. US PlayStation Direct preorders start October 22 at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT. Quantities are limited; retailer prices and allocations can differ.
The game update and the controller are separate purchases and schedules. You do not need the collectible controller to download Spec IV. For the complete rollout, see Sony’s announcement and the official game page.
