Valor Mortis is out now. One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner, launched its first person soulslike on October 13, 2026 on PC through Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it arrived on day one for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members. The standard edition costs 39.99 US dollars and the Deluxe Edition 59.99 US dollars.
A soldier raised from the grave
You play William, a soldier of Napoleon’s Grande Armée who rises from a battlefield grave in an alternate history version of 19th century Europe. Vincent Cassel plays Napoleon, and Jennifer English voices The Shrike. Ghostrunner fans will feel the studio’s love of movement, but the pace here is closer to a soulslike, built around reading enemies and choosing your moment.

Watch the official launch trailer below.

How it launched
The game was first set for September 24 before One More Level delayed it to October 13. Early player reviews on Steam are Mostly Positive, with about 78 percent of more than 700 reviews recommending it. A New Game Plus mode is coming in the fourth quarter of 2026, and the Deluxe Edition includes cosmetics and a major story expansion planned for next year.
Our take
A first person soulslike is still rare, and having it on Game Pass from day one makes it an easy game to try. If you liked how Ghostrunner made every encounter feel sharp, this is worth a few hours to see whether its slower, heavier combat clicks for you.
