According to Eurogamer, Control Resonant has become the fastest-selling game in Remedy Entertainment's history, surpassing Alan Wake 2 and the original Control in sales speed.
Control Resonant reached one million copies sold, making it the fastest-selling title in Remedy's 31-year history, according to a statement from the studio released three weeks after its launch. The game outpaced Alan Wake 2, which took about two months to reach the 1 million milestone in 2023, and the original Control, which reached 2 million copies by the end of 2020.
Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who became CEO in February, called the sales performance a "very strong start," noting that Control Resonant is the studio's first self-published release of this scale. He said the launch demonstrates the game's ability to connect with long-time fans and bring new players into the Control universe, strengthening its long-term potential.
The studio confirmed that Resonant is the lowest-rated of all three Control titles, with Alexis Ong awarding it three stars in a Eurogamer review, citing that it "feels like it's chasing the hallmarks of a live-service game while trying, only partly successfully, to echo the very deliberate structure and style of the genre storytelling that worked so well in the first game."
Control Resonant joins a list of recent releases including The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Star Wars Zero Company, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, all of which have sold over one million copies.
