Mistfall Hunter may look like a traditional Soulslike at first glance, but that description only tells part of the story. Bellring Games has created a dark-fantasy PvPvE extraction ARPG in which monsters, rival players, valuable equipment and the constant risk of losing your loot are all part of the same experience.
The game officially launched on July 30, 2026. Before spending your money—or downloading it through Game Pass—here are 15 important things you should know.
1. Mistfall Hunter is available now
Mistfall Hunter launched globally on July 30, 2026. Depending on your region and storefront, the release date may appear as July 29 because of time-zone differences.
This is the full release, although Bellring Games is continuing to fix technical problems and add seasonal content.
2. It is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles
You can play Mistfall Hunter through Steam, Xbox PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is also available through Xbox Cloud Gaming for eligible Game Pass members.
No PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch version has been officially announced.
3. The Standard Edition costs $24.99
The Standard Edition launched at $24.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $39.99. A $15 upgrade is also available for players who buy the Standard Edition first.
The Deluxe Edition mainly adds cosmetics and Fate Coins. It does not provide an alternative campaign or major gameplay expansion.
4. It is included with Game Pass
Mistfall Hunter is available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
If you already have an active subscription, trying the game through Game Pass is the safest way to discover whether its extraction structure is right for you.
5. This is not a traditional single-player Soulslike
Mistfall Hunter borrows dark-fantasy visuals, deliberate combat and class-based builds from action RPGs, but its core structure is based on extraction gameplay.
You enter a dangerous map, collect equipment and resources, fight enemies and attempt to extract successfully. Returning safely allows you to keep your haul. Dying can mean losing valuable items carried into the match.
Do not buy it expecting a traditional offline campaign similar to Dark Souls or Elden Ring.
6. PvP is part of the main experience
The “PvPvE” description is important. You will fight monsters and bosses, but rival Gyldhunters can also appear during a match.
Another player may attack while you are exploring, carrying valuable loot or fighting a difficult enemy. Even a successful PvE encounter can become dangerous within seconds.
Players who strongly dislike forced PvP should consider this before buying.
7. You can play solo, but there are limitations
Mistfall Hunter supports solo matchmaking and squads of up to three players. However, the solo experience does not currently provide identical access across every map and difficulty.
Hallowgrove supports dedicated solo play. Following player feedback, Bellring Games confirmed that dedicated Brandrgarde Solo modes for Normal and Cataclysm difficulties are planned for the middle of Season 1 in September.
Until then, dedicated solo players may find their available progression path more restricted than the trio experience.
8. Cross-platform matchmaking is supported
Cross-platform matchmaking is officially supported, allowing players from PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series systems to enter the same matchmaking ecosystem.
This is particularly useful if your regular teammates play on different platforms.
9. An internet connection is required
Mistfall Hunter is designed around online matchmaking. It is not an offline action RPG that can be completed without connecting to the game’s servers.
Console players should also check the online multiplayer requirements of their platform and subscription before buying.
10. There are six different classes
The game currently offers six classes with different combat roles and playstyles: Mercenary, Sorcerer, Shadowstrix, Blackarrow, Seer and Withered Knight.
Weapon archetypes, abilities and talents can significantly change how a class performs. Some are more suitable for direct melee combat, while others focus on ranged damage, mobility, magic or team support.
Experimenting before investing heavily in one class is recommended.
11. Builds depend on more than your class
Your power is determined by skills, talents, weapons, equipment rarity and gem affixes.
This creates plenty of build variety, but it also introduces a substantial learning curve. A good class choice cannot completely compensate for weak equipment, poor preparation or an ineffective build.
New players should avoid risking their best gear before understanding extraction points, map routes and enemy behaviour.
12. Seasonal resets are confirmed
Bellring Games has confirmed that Mistfall Hunter will have seasonal resets, commonly known as wipes. Some long-term progression elements will carry into the next season, but not everything will remain untouched.
The developer has said that seasons are currently expected to last approximately three to four months.
If you dislike rebuilding seasonal progress, this may be one of the most important reasons to wait before buying.
13. The game includes additional purchases
Mistfall Hunter contains an in-game store, cosmetics, Fate Coins and a Battle Pass structure. The Steam page also discloses in-game purchases and chance-based purchases.
Bellring Games says paid content will not provide stat advantages or create a pay-to-win system. Even so, players who dislike multiple currencies, seasonal systems or store-heavy presentation should examine the monetisation structure before spending additional money.
14. Steam reviews are currently Mixed
At the time of writing, Mistfall Hunter has approximately 5,900 English-language Steam reviews, with around 62% rated positively. That gives the game an overall “Mixed” user-review rating.
Players commonly praise the dark-fantasy setting, combat potential, class variety, build system and reasonable entry price.
The most frequent complaints concern stuttering, server latency, technical bugs, the interface, solo-mode limitations, seasonal wipes and the presentation of its monetisation systems.
Bellring Games has already released several updates addressing crashes, stuttering, balance and server problems, but the technical experience may continue to vary between systems and regions.
15. The roadmap is already moving forward
Season 1 is titled Soul Hunt, and the Soul Harvest gameplay activity is already live. Bellring Games is continuing to work on stability improvements, balance changes, additional class archetypes and future seasonal content.
The most important confirmed short-term addition is the dedicated Brandrgarde Solo mode for both Normal and Cataclysm difficulties, planned for September.
The developer also plans to publish a new roadmap near the end of each season.
Should you buy Mistfall Hunter?
Mistfall Hunter is worth considering if you enjoy extraction games, dark-fantasy combat, build experimentation, online competition and the tension of risking valuable equipment.
The $24.99 price is reasonable for the available content, while Game Pass offers a lower-risk way to try it.
However, players looking for an offline Soulslike, permanent progression, a completely PvE-focused experience or a polished solo campaign should wait. Technical performance, seasonal resets and the current solo restrictions are major factors to consider.
