New World: Aeternum, NBA 2K25 and 2 More Games Are Shutting Down

Four online games are counting down to their final days. New World: Aeternum, Amazon Games’ open world MMO, goes offline on January 31, 2027, and three other games, from a long running hunting sim to a 2K basketball game, lose their servers before it.

New World: Aeternum, January 31, 2027

Amazon Games announced on January 15 that New World: Aeternum would be taken offline on all platforms on January 31, 2027, and removed it from sale the same day. Players who own it can keep playing on the platform where they bought it until then, and they can still download and reinstall it.

Work on new content ended in October 2025. The Season 10 Nighthaven update has been extended until the shutdown, world bosses and bonus weeks continue, and purchases of Marks of Fortune, the premium currency, ended on July 20 and are not refundable. The original game launched on PC in September 2021, and the Aeternum version reached PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 15, 2024.

NBA 2K25, online modes end December 31

2K says the online services of NBA 2K25 end on December 31, 2026, and Steam lists the game as unavailable for purchase from October 30. VGC and Dexerto report that MyCAREER, MyTEAM and online multiplayer stop working after that date. Offline modes stay playable, including Play Now, MyNBA, MyLeague, MyGM, MyWNBA and the W, and MyTEAM Mobile 2K25 shuts down on the same day.

Destruction AllStars, November 25

Sony removed the PS5 exclusive Destruction AllStars from sale on May 26, and its multiplayer modes remain offline because of ongoing technical issues. According to an email Sony sent to players, published by Stevivor, server support for the single player modes ends on November 25 at 15:00 UTC, which is 7:00 AM PT, after which the Arcade Mode challenges should stay playable for returning players.

What it means for players
