FromSoftware, the studio whose name is tied to Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, is preparing a very interesting exclusive for Nintendo. The game is called The Duskbloods, and it is expected to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
Its dark aesthetic inevitably brings Bloodborne to mind. For anyone who loves that side of FromSoftware, the prospect of a new creation on Nintendo’s console is a major reason to be excited.
There is one key difference, though: The Duskbloods is built around online multiplayer. FromSoftware describes it as a PvPvE game in which up to eight players take on both one another and enemies controlled by the game. That means we shouldn’t automatically expect an adventure with the same structure we know from Bloodborne or Dark Souls.

Players take on the role of the Bloodsworn, supernatural beings who draw unique powers from blood. Hidetaka Miyazaki is directing the game, and he has talked about superhuman movement, freedom in combat, character customization, and storytelling that is revealed piece by piece.

The collaboration with Nintendo is interesting too. According to Miyazaki, the game began as a smaller project for the original Switch. When the Switch 2 came into view, development changed direction so it could take advantage of the new hardware and better serve the original idea.
As a business decision, the exclusivity recalls the case of Bloodborne on PlayStation. This isn’t the first time a Souls game has appeared outside Sony’s ecosystem, though: Dark Souls: Remastered already launched on the original Nintendo Switch in 2018. What makes this one stand out is that it’s a new creation from FromSoftware, exclusive to the Switch 2.

When does it come out? As of today, October 1, 2026, Nintendo’s official page lists only 2026, with no day or month. Online play requires an internet connection and a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Personally, I think The Duskbloods is especially interesting for the Switch 2. FromSoftware’s dark fantasy meets a different approach to multiplayer, and we’ll have to see whether that meeting gives Nintendo another worthwhile exclusive.
