ArcheAge Chronicles opens on Steam Early Access on November 3 at 3:00 p.m. PST with three regions, four classes and eight weapons for 29.99 US dollars. You buy it once and there is no subscription. XLGAMES says the Early Access phase should last about 9 to 12 months, and a third weapon for every class and more regions are planned before the full release.

XLGAMES develops and publishes the game itself, and it opens on November 3 at 3:00 p.m. PST. Pre orders went live on Steam on October 27.
- USA: 3:00 p.m. PT, 4:00 p.m. MT, 5:00 p.m. CT, 6:00 p.m. ET (November 3)
- Brazil: 8:00 p.m. BRT (November 3)
- UK and UTC: 11:00 p.m. (November 3)
- Germany, France, Italy, Spain: midnight CET (November 4)
- Greece: 1:00 a.m. EET (November 4)
- Japan and Korea: 8:00 a.m. (November 4)
What you get on day one
The Early Access build includes three regions: Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains. Each region has its own story and quests, but the world is open and you can roam freely between them. XLGAMES says the main story and side quests across the three regions add up to over 30 hours, not counting exploration. On top of that you get dungeons, raids, PvP, housing, crafting, trading, and company and guild activities.
There are four classes, and each one uses two weapons, eight in total. You equip both weapons and switch between them in combat, so every class plays two different ways.
| Class | Weapons at launch |
|---|---|
| Warrior | Longsword, Greatsword |
| Ranger | Hatchet, Longbow |
| Berserker | Axe and Shield, Warhammer |
| Mage | Elemental Staff, Wavesword |
The combat is action based, with jumping, rolling, dashing, blocking and parrying, and it supports controllers. Some classes are still locked to one gender at launch.
A few details are worth knowing before you buy. Full voice acting is in Korean only, with English subtitles and interface. The game uses the kernel level anti cheat XIGNCODE3. Right now the Steam page lists PC only, with no date for PS5 or Xbox.
What comes after the launch
XLGAMES has shared what it plans to add during Early Access and before the full release:
- A third weapon for every class, added class by class
- More regions and stories
- Gender options for the classes that are locked today, added gradually rather than all at once
- Combat balance, progression pacing and quality of life fixes, including party channel switching
- Expanded life skills and community content
There is no fixed schedule yet. Executive producer Yongjin Ham said the order can shift with development and that the team will tackle what players ask for most first. The price may also change at full release, and XLGAMES says it will announce any change in advance.
Price and cash shop
Early Access is a one-time purchase of 29.99 US dollars in North America, with regional pricing elsewhere. In a developer video released on October 22, Ham repeated a promise to never sell items that let players buy power. A cash shop is expected only with the full release, and XLGAMES says it is looking at content, customization and convenience items while avoiding pay to win.
What players are saying
The Steam Next Fest demo, which ran from October 19 to 26, finished fifth on Steam’s Most Played Demos list, according to XLGAMES. Inven Global reported that it topped the Next Fest Top Demos and Trending Upcoming charts early on. SteamDB figures, reported by MeinMMO, showed a peak of 20,507 players at once on the first evening.
Players who liked the demo point to the atmosphere, the quests, the character creator and a world that feels good to travel. One Steam player wrote a review after 20 hours calling it a very good MMO. Others welcome real action combat with full controller support, and many compare it to New World, which is shutting down its servers.
The criticism is just as loud. On the Steam forums, a long thread calls the combat slow and clunky, and fans of the original ArcheAge say this is not the sandbox they remember. Some also worry that the pay to win history of the first game will come back. Gender locked classes drew complaints, and so did the lack of clear tank and healer roles. MeinMMO ran out of demo content after about 140 minutes, found mouse and keyboard less polished than a controller, and saw some players get kicked from the servers.
Our Take
The nine to 12 month Early Access window is the real test here. A paid launch with three regions and four classes asks players to trust that the full release features will actually arrive. The strong demo showing helps XLGAMES, but a demo is not a live server. We would watch how quickly the first regular updates respond to player feedback, because that will show whether the studio's promise holds.

The overall mood is split. Players new to the series and New World fans lean positive, while veterans of the original lean negative. Nobody has seen the cash shop in action yet. Pre-order bonus
